⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

3 stars! Spoiler-free.

In my opinion, this book was basically an exact copy and paste of the first one in the series (The Fine Print). The characters (especially the MMCs, male main characters) were identical in personality. Just really grumpy and unfeeling (until he fell in love?).

Commendations:

  • Really good groveling

  • Plotline was structured and dramatic enough, therefore did not get boring

  • Love how Declan's character evolved! Character development is such a plus.

  • Loved the word game that Declan and Iris.

  • The end credits of the book credited Taylor Swift's illicit affairs for Lauren's idea of the word game, and as a fellow swiftie, I'm so proud of Taylor for inspiring it.

Improvements:

  • Lack of emotional scenes. I didn't cry, or even feel sympathetic towards the characters in any scene. I'm a person who cries incredibly easily over books, but this one just didn't have that aspect.

  • Originality? Book 1 and 2 are basically reading the same story twice.

My concluding thoughts are that if you've read The Fine Print and want to read Cal's book or you're interested in a second-chance, small-town romance, keep reading for Final Offer (a three stars from me).
