Spoiler-free! 4 stars.
A great sequel to the first book in the series. I love the mix of romance, character development, and dramatic storyline in this series. So much unfolds and so many emotions are experienced. What a read.
This book gets 4 stars from me just because I felt that the Alliance, the Syndicate, and the Outfit need to be explained a bit better. I don't really understand the purpose of each and who's a part of it, their history and rules, etc. In that manner, many books fail to explain politics. This series, unfortunately, is part of that clump.
Nevertheless, I really loved the parts in the book where we got to see more sides of different characters. Like that scene where Tristan cried? That was perfect, exactly what we needed. I also love how the author still supports women's empowerment indirectly by keeping Morana a girl boss and not taking away from her power, wit, intelligence, and value in the story just because she has a man now.
Plot:
This book continues from where The Predator leaves off. To summarize quickly, it's basically about Morana and Tristan living under Lorenzo Maroni's residences (I guess) and working towards getting answers about Tristan's sister (Luna's) abduction, as well as taking down the Alliance. The book keeps you on your toes, as the first one did. If you enjoyed The Predator, you'll definitely enjoy The Reaper (but The Predator trumps The Reaper for me).
The only other thing that lacked in this book (for me) was that I didn't cry (this is a must for a five-star book for me). Regardless, I finished this book in one day, so that's quite a feat, considering I was in a slump just a week ago.
